OK so first time streaming my #aNONradio show using #ffmpeg on #CLI was a success! πŸ™Œ I was going to use BUTT but it kept crashing on me when I was testing it this morning so I have decided to give ffmpeg a go. And I streamed the show on the PC I built myself a few days ago and so I'm kind of proud tbh LOL πŸ˜… If you are a DJ on anonradio or do openmic sessions there this I think is the correct ffmpeg command & options! Just change 'snowdusk' cuz that's my own mount 😝 #foss #fedora #linux #icecast

And very important -- this is setup for an external mixer whose audio output is connected to your PC's LINE IN jack!! Because this is how I stream my show on aNONradio! (that was the '-i hw:0,0' portion -- my pc's soundcard, line in jack) ☝️

My alsamixer line in level has to be set up this way which I find kind of weird. Anything over 13 I would get annoying distortions and crackling sounds. Can't even use the Line Boost bec it produces the same annoying sounds. I guess this depends on your PC's soundcard. The one I have is actually OK... I'm actually glad about that.

@snowdusk I don't think you need the boost if you're using an external mixer β€” that stuff is for mics. It's odd that anything above 13 introduces distortions though. Maybe mixer's output level is too high 🀷

@m0xee Thank you for the note! I think you are right, my mixer puts out really loud audio and that's why I had to set up my LINE IN levels that low. I never want to change my external mixer's levels because I'm already accustomed to that setting. It's funny because with all of the Macs I've owned, the audio input levels are always 'on par' with the audio levels of my external mixer. It's all good because I've used my newly built linux PC again to stream the audio and it was still good! πŸ‘
