@icedquinn that's kinda disingenuous to say because libertarianism before the 20th century meant something completely different than what it does to most Americans, and that in itself was already different than classical liberalism. to say the founding fathers === "libertarians" misses a lot of nuance

@keb i'm pretty sure if someone told the founding fathers the CIA exists they would all slam their faces in to the table and say we failed the "republic if you can keep it" part.

@keb although i dunno what people call libertarianism now is. i only know it from how we intentionally designed the country to be minarchist. heinlein, ron paul, etc.

apparently there's been some hugely successful colonization campaign to make libertarianism mean something that it doesn't

@icedquinn yea to a lot of folks libertarian just means "fiscally conservative socially liberal" at this point. I guess its silly to get hung up on the definitions at this point. apologies if I came off pedantic
