You sure do! I still have a bunch of old Macs with that 😁
It was great for its time, but the DMA thing was always a double-edged sword: it was a lifesaver as you could connect devices like sound cards to laptops — CPUs weren't that powerful so USB was a bad option, but it was also a security breach.
Now it's obsoleted by Thunderbolt which is basically PCI Express and they've probably made it negotiable between devices, I wonder how it actually works though 🤔

@m0xee @futzle thunderbolt has also had a whole bunch of DRM/PCIe access related vulnerabilities. They mostly solved it with DRM I think? Where the kernel actually checks the end device is an approved one in some fashion, or it’s disabled by default.
