Sometimes, "get over it" is the correct response to something.

It's a phrase too many people are afraid to use, because it sounds insensitive or rude.

But nobody is entitled to your emotional labour, and nobody has to be upset by the things that make you upset. To put it bluntly, no one has to feel the same way about something you do.

So... get over it.

There is a difference between being an asshole and saying "no, I will not be upset by you, and I am not going to compromise my pont of view" to someone or something you find to be irritating. There is a difference between refusing to change and refusing to compromise your personal values.

You can't be everyone's friend. No really, you just can't. Just be yourself and let others sort it out.
