It's completely irrational in the modern world, but it was necessary for our survival as species at certain point, so it got burned into our subconsciousness 🤷
Fear of spiders and other insects has similar basis I think. That spider in your bathroom is hardly a threat, but if you're in a forest naked, it might have been necessary.
