@straw It's even worse when a 40 Kb jpeg with clearly visible compression artifacts that was re-encoded again and again for 15 times gets pasted as a 2,5 Mb png 😫

@m0xee @straw they do this to get the people who filter by size without actually having a decent image

They should filter these out and it would be extremely easy to test the blurriness with an algorithm, not even an AI or anything fancy, just a regular program. It's kinda sad they haven't figured out a way :/

@coyote I think browser knows exactly what was copied. It has the mime type and the original data. I dunno why can't they paste precisely what was copied 🤷
I've searched FF Bugzilla and found out it was pasted as jpeg in the past, but everyone complained about the quality. They wanted to implement different compression "profiles" and a setting in about:config to control that, but then they've just made it paste everything as image/png and forgot about it. That is wrong 😞
@straw

@m0xee @straw Oh, I simply assumed it was an APNG which is unsupported by your program, so it looks unknown, maybe it really is a GIF and something's wrong, IDK, it could also be another animated format! I have no idea! But if it says "unknown/png" it's probably an APNG (animated PNG)

@coyote Nah, I was whining about how bad FF is at handling images in the clipboard in general. I'm not even sure how it handles animated PNGs — probably as bad as everything else 🤣
Easier to save it as a file and attach that. @straw
