Considering the whopping 1ghz quad core of the switch it absolutely could

Side note, how can you release something that underpowered in 2017? It was actually behind mid range phones of the time, not to mention modern ones.
@dushman @iska @furgar The photorealism rat race isn't everything. There's something to be said for having hardware that's "good enough" to deliver fun and engaging experiences while not costing as much to produce or distribute (for both Nintendo itself and third-party non-AAA developers). Actually, I think that's the big reason the Switch has won the market this time around. AA and indie devs flocked to it because of lower development costs and the games they released made it clearly stand out from the competition, prompting consumers to buy the console, establish it as *the* market for these kinds of games, virtuous cycle, repeat. Nintendo's portables have worked on this kind of model from day 1, and a lot of their consoles as well (remember the Wii?)

@allison I think the Switch won because the idea that you can play in on TV while docked and then take it on the road and pick up just where you left off is very appealing.
Still it's very restricted. When I considered buying one you couldn't put movies to watch on it. I mean as files. I was like: you've got to be kidding me, you could even do that with Nintendo DS. There was a Netflix app though and you could download movies/shows to watch offline, but that is just cursed!
