Welp, I can report that I have managed to disassemble my venerable OnePlus 6T phone, replace the battery & find I have the wrong USB socket replacement (prob for my now obsolete 3T instead), but managed to clean the USB connector contacts, removing the need for a replacement, & reassembled it successfully. Subsequently, I (for the umpteenth time) managed to do a painless major version upgrade of LineageOS to version 22.1 (from 21.1). Amazingly, everything is functioning! Big sigh of relief.

@lightweight With my Purism Librem 5 Linux phone, I can get the schematics, PCB assembly, and a phone disassembly video from the Purism website.

On the downside, their support has been understaffed and backlogged, so when my microphone died back in January, I've been on hold to get a support authorization to send it to them for repair. I think by the time they get back to me I'll have it repaired. (Degree in electronics, but have been doing software since 1996.)
