@jducoeur Interesting that the author would blame the GOP's shift to "weird" on Trump, because the shift had to be completed to get Trump. The gate to "weird" really opened when Reagan won by large margins. Nixon's Southern Strategy push showed that the right's "weird" was waiting just outside, but Reagan is really the catalyst. He also pulled the Dems away from "weird". Laying McGovern to rest with the War on Drugs and hawkish "defense" and Carter's environmental to rest with Watt.
