Has anyone had good experiences using pen tablets in combination with Linux computers?

Product recommendations?

My preference would be to get something second-hand rather than to buy new.

I don't have much experience with either tablets or touchscreens, so would be coming to this technology fairly green. Partly as a result I don't strong opinions about whether the tablet should have its own display.

(boosts appreciated)

@dynamic I bought a refurbished Wacom Intuos that seemed to work well on Linux; my uses were just whiteboard-type so just text and simple drawings.

@lwriemen

Thanks.

Do you have reason to believe it wouldn't have worked as well for something more elaborate?

@dynamic Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to answer that question. I imagine drawing on a screen would be easier, because your focus is all in one place. This was my first foray into such technology, I didn't really have a strong reason to try it, and the price was right (< $50 USD).
