Password managers are a *great* (essential!) thing. But folks using LastPass... don't. Similarly, all the other centralised, VC-funded proprietary corporate players (1Password, Dashlane, etc.). They're all an accident waiting to happen (or happen *again*, like this: bleepingcomputer.com/news/secu). This is the approach I recommend: tech.oeru.org/join-fediverse-i If you're not up to building your own, find someone you know & trust to do it. If you build one, make it available to your family & social circles.

@lightweight Have you tried LXC vs Docker? I'm definitely a noob when it comes to hosting, and I tend to get caught up in technical details. I know Ii want containerized hosts. I've heard LXC is more lightweight, but I don't have experience in either.

@lwriemen I've used #LXC, too, yes. I haven't noticed any fundamental advantage to it... #Docker's advantage, as I see it, is that most #FOSS projects use it for rapid deployment and setting up development environments. The 'mindshare' is just much higher.
