media tracking of COVID-19
Somewhat early in the pandemic, NPR put up this COVID-19 tracker, which monitors the number of cases for different states in the U.S.
They maintained a link to the tracker on their main site right up until the vaccines started to get rolled out, and then they replaced the link with a vaccine tracker to report on how effectively different states were distributing the vaccines allocated to them.
Then when cases started to go up again, they put up the COVID-19 tracker again.
But now cases have started to slowly go down again, they're back to linking to the vaccine tracker.
This *bothers* me.

@dynamic Link took me to cases, so I wondered what you were talking about, then I saw small ribbon menu near top of link page that had "U.S. Cases Hospitals Vaccines World Cases". NPR front page had an article (quite a ways down) on state vaccinations that took me to the "Vaccines" section.

I don't like that they seem to think that the cases tracker is evidently only considered news-worthy when cases are increasing. We're still in a pandemic, and will be for a while. It's kind of useful for people to know how bad things are near where they live. In fact, it's much more useful than knowing how many people near where you live have been vaccinated.

@lwriemen
Yeah, sorry. I liked to the page that I find the most interesting. Probably should have also included links to the vaccine tracker (https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/01/28/960901166/how-is-the-covid-19-vaccination-campaign-going-in-your-state) and possibly the NPR main page (https://www.npr.org/) for context.
