@lwriemen @brown121407 I'm not necessarily implying any such thing, just curious if it was made obvious beforehand or not. I have this fear that schools and workplaces obscure the fact that they plan to force proprietary software on you, making it harder to avoid them. If you've already committed to a job or a class when you suddenly find out you have to use Windows or Matlab or whatever else, it's a lot harder and more uncomfortable to get out of than if you'd known ahead of time and been able to avoid it. If you decide you can deal with it, you can still take a job after finding out, but not knowing before it's too late is terrible.
