#mastodon is kind of like coming full circle in my post-Usenet wanderings. I initially tried #facebook; it was truly awful, so I went to #diaspora early when it was still invite required. Nobody I knew, no good connectors (interests, etc.), so I went to #twitter. Not great, but ok. #linkedin was always separate, more business than social, but #microsoft ruined it.
This foray into the #Fediverse has better connectors, but still lacks connections.
