@Hawk1291 I will be investigating this. A key challenge will be finding an alternative that has suitable battery life and doesn't cost thousands. That seems to be the province of #Chromebooks pretty clearly.

@Hawk1291 Does anybody have a suggestion for a long-battery-life (10+ hrs ideal), low-end, fairly small/light (10-13") #laptop that DOESN'T have to run #ChromeOS? There are many #Chromebooks that fit that description, but I'd want to put #Linux on it. The #PineBookPro would have been suitable, but it's no longer being sold. I'm OK with ARM or x86.

@jgoerzen @Hawk1291 I was hopeful that FirefoxOS would have evolved into something suitable for a Chromebook replacement and be a viable alternative for education. Unfortunately the project targeted low end phones and died. There's more than the laptop & its OS, though. School boards buy into the entire service ecosystem. Even users with personal laptops are being trained/conditioned to use Google products exclusively. Ease of administration will have long term effects
