Had to get a scanner for reasons, and i am reminded again how everything at the intersection of paper and computers is a graft.
@mhoye what did you get? (I’ve been really happy with my brother ADF scanner, but still wondering what’s out there)
@antifuchs the Canon LIDE 400. It's a nice piece.of hardware! The software situation, not so great...

@mhoye @antifuchs what don't you like about the software? So far I've only tried SimpleScan which amazingly found my LiDE 100 (I think) and started scanning at the push of a button. Multiple pages into PDF, or single pages saved as the usual suspect formats in a straightforward manner. Good defaults for text vs photo.
Having ignored scanners since the xsane days, this seemed too easy.
