How do you feel about fediverse accounts that you have to pay to follow?

@evan All depends on the mechanism for "have to pay to follow" and whether that requires using proprietary software. If it doesn't, I'm positive. (so, "somewhat positive").

@johns @evan I assume the mechanism is that it's a private account and you get approved to follow when the check clears. I don't think there'd be anything built into ActivityPub.

@stinerman @evan The "when the check clears" part would be the hangup -- it wouldn't be a check.
