@evan Qualified no because users should be able to enable/disable that, but default should be no.

I said qualified yes, meaning yes by default for security but owner can opt out. I figure anyone who can't figure out how to opt out or too lazy to figure out how to needs the default security.

@virtuous_sloth @evan I can probably also be a qualified yes provided the product very clearly informs the user at start that updates are on by default -- because automatic update checking can itself be a security issue (divulging location etc).
