Hey Rick, 1) your business (#intuit) is already redundant and has actively lobbied to make the problem worse, 2) the current system costs taxpayers many billions of dollars, of which you stand to directly benefit from, 3) you and others in your field try to trick the most vulnerable into purchasing services they do not need. Good riddance.
@craftyguy I have seen some episodes about turbo tax. And to be honest other than outsourcing for the sake of it I never understood the need for it.
In my home country, the equivalent to the IRS provides a website to file your taxes free of charge.
Yes, it can get slow in the last few hours before the deadline to deliver the tax declaration ends.
But other than that, in Portugal, I was used to take less than 10 min to file my taxes, free of charge on a government website.
It can be done.
