In Star Trek, spaceships are really sleek, aerodynamic, etc.

In reality, if we had access to inertial dampeners and force shields, I bet we'd just fly through space on crudely put together balls of stuff. There's no need to secure parts and components if there's no inertia to move them around, and it's not like they need to be protected from collisions with the shields up.

@sir In that sense the with their cubes were more pragmatic
