This is actually the main reason that I stopped using the fsf endorsed Trisquel linux. It would not allow me to install python because python could be used to install closed source software. It didn't matter that it could also be used to install open source software which I wanted.
It's my computer, I will install what I want. Them deciding that I can't makes them as bad as Microsoft.

Really ? So Microsoft spying on you; making you pay for more licenses if they see fit and selling your data is the exact same ? What a moron you are. I also doubt the Python story because I installed Steam on Trisquel once to see if I could. Trisquel may not have certain software in it's repos but doesn't mean you can't install it. In that case every distro thst doesn't have every piece of software in it's repos is as bad as Microsoft.

They do not have it in their repository, which is not something that I have a problem with. It is their repository, they can have what they want. I added a repository so that I could install it. The "error" that it gave me was that it could be used to install non-free software.

Well I don't know about that error but the fact that I have personally installed closed source software on Trisquel means to me the issue is something else than Trisquel blocking it in some way.
