@Atlas @realcaseyrollins @Hyolobrika I endorse matrix. It's federated, and the app is actually pretty good. Of course there's still a server for an "attacker" to go after, but I don't want perfect to be the enemy of the good. (also why I'm on the fediverse)

With matrix, you can host your own server, or join a myriad of different servers out there. It is federated just like mastodon and pleroma.
I personally am on the librem.one instance of both mastodon and matrix because that is where I learned about them and I like their company philosophy so far. But they are far from the only ones out there.
@jlcrawf @Hyolobrika @realcaseyrollins @Atlas Oh I know, I host my own matrix server. It's just having a server at all *is* something of a vulnerability vs a strictly p2p system. If I attracted the ire of someone sufficiently powerful they could probably take my server down by pressuring the right entities.
