A year ago, I started a personal campaign to #DeleteFacebook. I explained my reasoning hoping others might join me.
I will share a Facebook-free year retrospective in September.
#DeleteFacebook part 3: Facebook protects borderline hate speech more than the recipients of the hate.
I enjoyed a nice vacation instead of posting the other 9 reasons to #DeleteFacebook.

@jeremiahlee I closed my account years ago, never regretted it... At first it's hard because friends and family continue to communicate through it so you feel disconnected with them, but with time everything feels better... Facebook is like any drug... We have to live the crash before feeling better...
@jeremiahlee I would love to delete Facebook. However, there's a huge network effect. I do standup comedy, and if you're not on Facebook, you don't know about shows and you don't get booked. :(
I guess one can minimize the damage by only using FB for specific purposes, but getting rid of it completely is not feasible for many people.
Deleted FB a few years ago.
I don't miss it.
@jeremiahlee The last paragraph in entry 1 is brilliant. This is what I wish most Facebook users would understand. They say they’re there “because their friends and/or family are”, which is understandable, but they fail to realize they hold the key to their own cell and can free themselves AND their friends and family at the same time.
