Car rental staff telling me about their roadside assistance: if you need help like when you get a flat tire or *hit a reindeer/moose*, call this number.
Roadtrip day 1: my first Finnish national park, waffles with a view, walk along a railway track, zzz in a manor hotel ...
Today's 400km drive included not one, but two moose sightings in the evening. One of them actually ran right in front of our car... if I didn't happen to be driving way below the speed limit, and if my partner didn't shout "STOP!" in time... *shudder*
Day 3 was long... Drove more than 400km, walked more than 10km, met 2 moose, almost hit one...
#Kummakivi - #Puumala - #Visulahti - Mäntyharju - #Repovesi - Kärnäkoski - Imatra
Didn't sleep well. Not looking forward to another challenging day to be honest.
Day 4: Imatrankoski - Patsaspuisto - Punkaharju - Savonlinna/Saimaa cruise - Savonranta - Kolovesi
Another great and exhausting day, too tired to go though all my pics. Car is running on fumes* and so am I. Overnight in a monastery, drank their absinthe, let's talk tomorrow...
*Really hope we have enough to last us until we get to a gas station tomorrow morning!
Day X of roadtrip... Lost count of days and day of the week. Ah well, signs of a good vacation.
One highlight: my very first horse ride! Mine was a lovely #Icelandichorse named Krapi (Icelandic for "slush") ❤️🐴
Last evening of the trip. Nice scenery around the hotel but we didn't get to enjoy the spa (closed too early at 8pm). Experienced a 3-min blackout (3:17 - 3:20) in the middle of the night probably caused by lightning.
Nice ending to the roadtrip after driving almost 41 hours over 10 days. The rainbows accompanied me from dropping off the rental car to the bus ride all the way home (~half an hour).
After covering 2500+ km in East Finland (and taking over 2500 pics between us), we didn't encounter the Saimaa ringed seal (norppa). 😞
At least I have this pic for consolation... 🦭
Speaking of #sculptures, we came across a rather unusual #sculpturegarden #patsaspuisto very close to the Russian border between Imatra and Savonlinna.
This is what 2500km looks like...
(and I'm still going through the 2500 pics from the roadtrip 😅)

thanks!
