@cybette same on my pinephone ubuntu touch has huge battery drain.
ah good to know, so it's less likely a hardware issue. they need to work on power optimization for Ubuntu Touch.
@cybette so I flashed Mobian OS to my pinephone and now my battery life is good
that's great! 👍👍
@cybette pinephone isn't daily driver ready for most part for most people but for price is good hackable phone all their tech is good priced for playing on
indeed, if I get one it will be for playing around and hacking on, but not for daily use. still, we need projects like this and hope they do well and pave the way for more open devices!
@cybette I agree 100% my daily driver currently is a sailfishOS sony Xperia 10+ as I do need access to a few Android apps via dalvik
@cybette but I do hope someday to be able to fully switch to a open FOSS phone as things progress that's my goal anyways be on a fully FOSS phone over next 2 to 3 years as my only device
definitely a great goal to have!
@cybette yeah may not happen but I'll try it's hard with certain apps only on Android and iOS
@cybette @jameshjacksonjr do you have the Wi-Fi on? I noticed that the battery problem on my Fairphone 2 with Ubuntu Touch is mainly due to Wi-Fi.
yeah I have the wifi on, because the cellular data doesn't work most of the time (actually I've only gotten it to work once in almost one month since installing it) so yeah, if I turn wifi off, it's a useless brick.
@jameshjacksonjr
the #FxtecPro1 has a smaller capacity battery compared to the #asuszenfone6 (3200 vs 5000mAh) so we can't compare them directly. However the Pro1 handles a full day's use just fine, if you keep the screen brightness somewhat low (it's a relatively bright display so you don't need it at high brightness setting anyway)
the OS matters though. #SailfishOS gives the best battery life, followed by Android / #LineageOS. However, #UbuntuTouch has problem with battery drain when idle.
