Prompted by last week's discussion I started about bad Firefox performance on Ubuntu and several people's suggestion that I might want to consider that Ubuntu may be the problem (federate.social/@jik/110998835), I decided on a whim this past weekend to install Debian on one of my laptops.
My verdict: Debian's a solid desktop OS for hackers, but I don't think it's a good choice for non-techies and probably won't become one.

@jik I have Linux Mint as my primary Linux OS. I have Debian and LMDE (Linux Minte Debian Edition) installed on another machine. I am not a hacker, maybe a wannabe hacker, so more skilled than average computer user I think. I have been thinking I may go for Debian in the future as primary. And even more seriously considering LMDE as primary which is closer to Debian but with MInt user-friendliness added. Thnaks for your report!

@jik By the way, I am also a digiKam user. I use the AppImage. I have never bothered to install AppImageLauncher or similar, I know it exist, but I have so few AppImages so for me it is no problem to know when there is a new release, download, move to my dedicated folder and update my menu. DigiKam is a really good software!
