I was today years old when I noticed that if you highlight text in a received email, and then reply to it, @thunderbird inserts what you highlighted as quoted text. Neat!
@killyourfm @thunderbird I found it long ago, and I can understand that it can be useful, but so far I think that every time that it has auto quoted the email that way I had to cancel the draft, unselect the text in the email and
hit reply again.

Hehe, been there, done that mistake!
It works very much like when you respond in eg forum threads. So I see it as a feature!
