@digikam I'm sure it's good software, and I really ought to give it a go one of these days, but Darktable has been my go-to for a while now.

Paul, I took the other path! I think both are good but my main objectives lead to digiKam: A good catalog sw "DAM" incl, important to me, that it can handle face tagging. For developing and editing: digiKam, RawTherapee and (at least for time being AfterShot). DarkTable is not ruled out. And GIMP is also in plans for more advanced editing. I've recently migrated from Photoshop Elements via Lightroom Classic.
