While my current “verified” emoji is an $8 joke, it would be nice if Mastodon placed the actual green-verified info visibly on toots next to the username.

@shawnp0wers Yeah, I did the rel=me attribute and I don't see what that proves. It seems to me that only I can see the check next to the website I used. How does that prove anything to any one? Anyhow, I only did it out of curiousity. I have no presence on social media, so I don't care. But still......

@cavaughan @shawnp0wers Well, I can see your rel-me green check mark. Screen shot attatched. I think it says something at least. It tells you both have access to edit the code on the web site and access to edit the Mastodon account. And the content on the web site will tell something about you. All can of course still be fake, but give some credibility. And compared to Twitter, only some people had possibility to get the blue mark (pre-Musk time).

@cavaughan @shawnp0wers Furthermore, I think for credibility and more, I think org, newspapers, companies etc should and will set-up their own instances, as a way for them to add a level of self-certification.
