Pals, I see a lot of people copy-pastaed their Twitter bio here - you can have longer and even formatted bios here, and remove all the kludges you did to make them fit on birdsite if you so desire! Remember, hastags of interests, groups, and topics help people find you. :a_trusted_friend:

There are also custom emoji on your server (they vary) that you can utilize! (Here's a lookup to check a server's emojos.in/).

@hacks4pancakes not to mention putting verifiable (if possible) links into the links section of your profile, not as bare links in your description. Verify who you are without being famous or spending $8/mo. Quite a few people on here I see not could that.

@heaths @hacks4pancakes Something I;m thinking of is running a verifier service, e.g. we provide a webfinger server, and validate your control your email (send a magic link, the usual), and let you point it at your mastodon account once verified so e.g. you can lookup @username@domain.tld on the verification service which would reply with their Mastodon ID. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would provide an easy path, and if an attacker hijacks your email they're gonna grab your Mastodon account anyways...

@kurtseifried
Don't verified linkbacks already kinda serve that purpose? If someone hijacks your account, you can remove the linkbacks from your site(s), thereby un-verifying the hijacked account?

I'm not certain. This is me thinking out loud in response to you thinking out loud. πŸ˜‚
