After watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the only Star Wars film I haven't seen yet), I conclude that I like the TV series of the same name much more.
But I realised that Anakin already uses the same lightsaber as he does as Darth Vader (but the blade will be in a different colour).
Just finished Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
One quote struck me, as is more relevant today than it was at the film's release:
In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic
Empire, for a safe and secure society which I assure you will last for ten thousand years. (Palpatine)
With the Senate's applause, the Republic turned into an authoritarian regime.
4/12 films (re-)watched.
For security and stability, many modern societies seem to be happy to give up their hard-earned freedom and rights.
Started the weekend with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. 6/12 movies watched - halfway through.
I think this is my favourite movie of all new Star Wars films. That the story is building up to the original trilogy certainly helps, and seeing familiar spaceships was a blast.
The first time in years I watched the original Star Wars film. 7/12 of my Star Wars run.
You can definitely see the age (nearly 50 years old!), but I genuinely prefer the original films over the new ones. I specifically liked how the rebellion is depicted: a wild bunch of people resisting the Empire. Nothing fancy about it.
Started the weekend by watching The Empire Strikes Back. Done with 8/12 Star Wars films.
Great movie! I enjoyed it at least as much as I used to, if not more. The Empire seems more threatening than in Episode IV, which makes the film darker and more serious.
Done with The Return of the Jedi, making it 9/12 in my Star Wars run. It used to be my favourite film of all of them, but I think the Empire Strikes Back takes that place now.
I didn't like the part with Luke in the Death Star that much anymore - trying to turn someone to the dark side is a matter of a few hours, I guess. However, the ships are really nice: B Wings, shuttles, calamari cruisers, and so on are just beautifully designed.
Watched The Force Awakens today. 10/12 of my Star Wars run. It's not great, it's not terrible 😉
However, I did like one tiny detail a lot: the Millenium Falcon has a different antenna - because Lando Calrissian "lost" it during the attack on the second Death Star.
Started the weekend with The Last Jedi. 11/12 films watched. I enjoyed it more than The Force Awakens, I must say. Sometimes a bit childish humour, but I guess that is something to address the younger audience.
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher both look great—they definitely aged very well.
Done with all the Star Wars movies by watching The Rise of Skywalker just now. Yeah sure, let's bring Palpatine back, because why not. And yes, he has kids btw. Ok...
But it was awesome to see Lando and Wedge, I must admit. I didn't remember that from the cinema 🙃
AOTC is my favorite prequel movie. Obi-Wan plays the role of Sam Spade in the GFFA.
I think Episode III is still my favourite film of the prequel trilogy, but will see if I still feel the same after my rewatching it for the first time in years.
But I must admit, I'm not too fond of animated films, which might also play a role. Obi Wan was great in the film, though.👌
The animated content is my favorite...I've probably been through the whole series including the Bad Batch five or six times. But my husband is totally "meh" about it! 🤣🤣
Finished Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.
Better than the previous film, but some dialogues are definitely a bit goofy. At least we got some memes out of it.
2/12 of the Star Wars movie run.
