Comparing to the Laptop: What are the main differences?

@elshid well, it's in a 19 inch rackmount case, and meant to be used as a server or appliance. it has a built-in power supply. there will be a riser and mounting points for a PCIe card, which is mostly interesting in conjunction with the LS1028A open hardware CPU module, which can drive AMD or nVidia GPUs.

@elshid also, i am working on a remote control facility that is independent from the main motherboard and lets you interact with the serial console remotely (incl. bootloader), and power cycle the system.

@mntmn @elshid custom built or just adapted from OpenBMC?

@lina @elshid i wonder if it makes sense to port openbmc?

@mntmn @lina @elshid With no prior knowledge of it, would seem like it would be the better option in the long run, and perhaps even a selling point. But one truly only knows the depths of horror of an integration until you hit the 80% mark. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@mntmn @elshid i don't know personally
Just seen it in other high performance open source servers using it
