This is why I generally say the gpl is a joke. It's either the case that making a Linux distro with no source availability is gpl compliant which would mean the license is not nearly as free as people make it out to be
Or it's not compliant and you can get away with it anyways because who's gonna go after you?

Also, there are people (if not you, then plenty of others) who care about doing the right thing, keeping their promises.

And it works in practice. For example, the GPL has helped Linux take over the world.

@eliasr @conservancy yeah I sent this to the arch Linux devs and they went after him on mastodon so he made his source code public
so we both learned that lesson today
