FYI, My #PeerTube instance is temporarily out of commission until I relaunch under version 6 on a new hosting solution. Uploads and streams will not work for the moment. I'll post when we are back up and running in the next couple days.

Older and federated video still play fine

Follow

@DavBot I don't understand, how can older video play fine if your peertube server is down?

@eliasr
New local uploads and streams will not transcode, play or transfer to S3 storage. As far as I can tell, it's the required version if node js in conflict with my current hosting. Rebuilding it and should have it all on version 6 on the new host by tonight or tomorrow eve. New host has managed services for peertube so an easier time administrating too.

@DavBot ok, thanks. When you have version 6 running, will the old videos still be available at the same URL they used to have earlier? I mean like if someone saved a URL to a specific video earlier, will that same URL still work? I worry about that for an instance I am about to upgrade.

@eliasr
In normal cases yes, the update from 5 to 6 will not affect video URL or UUID.

Any update should never affect the video's IDs.

In my case I have to start my instance over from scratch but at the same there was verrrrrry little activity, most of it live streaming anyways, the active users have gotten a heads up.
