@eliasr the gist is creating custom user interfaces that use Facebook, or any service, as a backend. Since we limit what the UI can do, it'll be easier to create parity with open protocols, maybe even ActivityPub?
Then getting a user to migrate from Facebook could be as simple as using a different domain name.
