Poland’s Sejm has passed legislation removing criminal liability for Polish citizens fighting on Ukraine’s side. Previously, participation in a foreign war was punishable by up to five years in prison. The new law applies both to current volunteers and to those who had already received court sentences. #Ukraine
@VoxClamans @noelreports Good, now there is no need to rely on presidential pardons.
The whole issue stems from a law saying that fighting for a foreign country requires a prior approval. This makes sense in general, but for some volunteers the approval was denied (for example because they were in the Polish military reserves), others have never even applied for it. Glad to see it solved.
