2024 was a record year for renewables.
Renewable generation reached 47% of the EU power mix, helping to bring down average wholesale electricity prices since 2021.
Here are some key figures:
๐ผ Solar generation increased by 19%
๐ผ Hydropower output improved by 13%
๐ฝ Demand for gas was 20% lower than 2021 levels, and renewables played a big role
Every watt counts when it comes to cutting energy emissions and costs.
Europe is on the right side of the equation.

@Methylcobalamin @EUCommission No, as uranium, etc. need to be mined. This means that the share of fossil fuels was only 28%!
@Methylcobalamin @EUCommission Nuclear arguably is "clean". It just isn't renewable. But I get what you mean, some people would call it renewable to fake better numbers.
@elgregor @EUCommission Producing radioactive waste isn't "clean". No disrespect.
@elgregor @EUCommission I asked because I have seen such articles before that played games with phrasing to silently include nuclear power as "clean energy".
