Apple must ensure iPadOS complies with obligations under the Digital Markets Act.

This means Apple must:

🌐 Allow users to set their default web browser
📱 Permit alternative app stores
🎧 Ensure accessory devices like headphones and smart pens can access iPadOS features

We will now assess whether these measures effectively meet the #DMA obligations, taking also into consideration the input of interested stakeholders.

@EUCommission same nonsense again. People can use Android if they don’t like how iOS works. I, for one, don’t want that whole crap on my chosen platform.
Tight integration is what makes apples products attractive. Breaking that doesn’t make those products better.

@plakat @EUCommission It's not about breaking integration. All the DMA stuff is optional. You don't have to use alternative app stores, browsers, accessories, etc. You are free to use 100% pure Apple stuff.

@elgregor @EUCommission there would be no problemlos the DMA was optional… yet it isn’t, therefore the APIs have to be there, making the system unnecessarily complicated and prone to errors/security issues.
Anyone not happy with the AppStore of browser engine is (and should be) free to use a different platform. If too many leave, Apple would reconsider. If not, then not.

@plakat @EUCommission Most of the APIs were already there, except private.

@elgregor @EUCommission and therefore inaccessible for regular applications from the store, which greatly reduces their exposure.
