I don't think a country at war can join NATO. On the other hand, once having joined NATO, Ukraine would not fear it to be used as a bargaining chip in peace negociations. Because Ukraine without NATO, that's a door open to Russian fascist-imperialism.

@VoxClamans @noelreports NATO can always decide to be more flexible and let Ukraine join under special conditions. For example, declaring only certain parts of Ukraine to be under articles 4 and 5.
