Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran seeks lasting peace and security in Ukraine for both the people of Ukraine and Russia and urges parties to immediately cease military hostilities. He added that Iran supports all peaceful solutions and believes that dialogue is the only way to resolve this 'crisis'.

@dacig @noelreports Ukraine knows well that "peace" right now would simply allow Russia to rearm and attack again.
@dacig @noelreports Ideally we should properly arm Ukraine (many units lack weapons like IFVs or tanks) and allow it to hit important targets: airfields, ammo storage, etc. If the West lacks own weapons (US doesn't), it could for example buy Soviet-era tanks from India or South Korea (India has 2200 tanks for sale). Russia would realize it won't make further gains, only incur costs, and start negotiations. After the war, defensive pacts with Ukraine to prevent Russia from starting another war.
@elgregor @noelreports whaW would the strategy be? Defeat Russia? Im no war expert, but it feels a bit difficult ...
Odds are not much changes, peace on a few years time when everyone finally tires of fighting.
However. It will be years of death and destruction, deeper debt to the West.
Europe in recession because of more expensive energy.
And the US laughing all the way to the bank, selling the gas and the weapons, owning half of Ukraine. Russia not poorer.
Not a win for Ukraine.
