I used to consider my self an anarchist. Because if the choice was between dignity, welfare and on the other hand society, I would always chose the former. As I saw it I recognised pascal's mugging.

Increasingly it seems obvious to me that those that call them self anarchist, imagine a society where those that are dependent on the state simply does not exist.

As someone that lives with a debilitating disability that means I am unable to provide for myself, I can now see they are the leopards.

Just as with guns, swimming pools and cars. States doesn't kill people, they allow people to kill. That is why I am for regulations on cars and guns.

States shouldn't be built in a way that makes killing easy, quiet the opposite they should be built to make killing impossible.

A driver is a murder, a gunslinger is a murder. A leader shouldn't be.

Swimming pools are more complicated.

@dlakelan fuck ICE.

The rule of law is meant to constrain those that would do harm to others. Most importantly fascists.

Their exist plenty of reason to rebuild democratic institutions in the US to defend against fascism.

And of course, fuck ICE.

Given the news of the potential disruption of the CVE main server, I've reserved 1000 or so ids for the kernel now, which should last us a few weeks.

@turtlewrites I don't understand what you mean with "dichotomies".

I am describing my lived experience that have lead me to the conclusion that some that call them self anarchist; fails to understand that people like me are dependent on the state.

I am not saying that is right, or that is how it should be.

I know it's hard to understand, but if the state need to motivate people to give a shit about me. I am glad the state exist. No force ia perfect, but a well organised police force is preferable to the alternatives that we know.

The state built the house I grew up in. "the state pay my rent" is an obvious gross over simplification, but I do like it when I get the chance to write obvious contradictions with deeper meaning.

I also recognise the enormous privilege of having parents that could support me.

I link an clip to the incredible financial diet for more information about growing up without that support, the clip describes kids in general without my disability.

So today has been an active day on here. Every negative interaction seems to have been balanced with at least one positive, that's not bad.

@youranoncentral.bsky.social this happened in Ukraine, within the last decade. I don't need to imagine. I heard the first account stories.

One day someone you know stops showing up to work, school, church, etc… nobody knows where they went, maybe they moved? Who knows, you forget about it, move on. Years later you find out there are mass graves created by the regime found on the outskirts of town, and that’s where they were all along.

If *I* hired someone who was underqualified, who had a known drinking problem, and who then immediately leaked highly sensitive information then I should rightfully be removed from my leadership position as well.
