This #PlayIntegrity stuff is really questionable. My banking app won't run on a #GoogleFree #LineageOS running #Android 16 with all the latest security updates. But a #GooglePlay device running Android 10 that was last updated in 2021 is approved. This is not a real #security check. This looks like a #gatekeeper #monopoly check.
@eighthave i had a major banking MFA app in my country fail to work on Graphene with google play services installed in a separate user profile with locked bootloader and working hardware attestation, but it worked fine on an old samsung running android 12, and a an older android 11 lineage dev build with no encryption and unlocked bootloader and no google play services!
Security rarely seems like the priority here. Luckily many complaints eventually fixed the situation (from many people)
@eighthave@librem.oneI I just walked in, showed them my Linux phone and said if I am not able to login in the web app without requiring an Android/iOS app, I would unfortunately need to move to another bank. They disenrolled the app on my own Android, and now I can login on the browser without needing any app : )
@eighthave for me it's even more confusing: My banking app works without a problem on a LineageOS, but Duolingo won't let me login using the app (the same copied credentials work in the browser) and my local public transport app won't display my subscribed ticket 🧐
