@LaQuadrature I agree that media coverage of privacy-preserving tech is too often just replaying law enforcement PR points, and that its harmful to privacy. I wish the GrapheneOS project didn't have a long track record of wild accusations. If it is true that the French government is trying to mess with the project, I'd like to be able to support the GrapheneOS project. But it is really hard to know...

This kind of coverage is typical of what we call “journalisme de préfecture”, happily practiced by the overwhelming majority of mainstream newsrooms here.
It would be interesting to get and publish a copy of the document that was communicated (or “leaked”?) to those chosen outlets, then try to trace and cast some light on the crawling life forms that took this initiative. Follow the last link for a CADA (FoI) request.
