@sophie I see that there's a separate cheaper SKU for "weak or no NFC performance", which I guess consists of regular units that failed NFC QA but work perfectly fine otherwise, so if that's what you bought then it makes perfect sense to me.
@dos that is indeed this very key (though it originally ordered a 3c nfc, but those are apparently out of stock until at least mid-september, so it got the order changed to a 3c without nfc). it just very much did not expect those keys to be regular ones that failed nfc testing and in the same casing but with the "nfc" very obviously (it is much more noticeable looking at the real thing instead of a photo) scribbled over
