What do I want to see for the future of software freedom? (Maybe I'll turn this thread with any feedback into a complementary one to adrian.geek.nz/fossbros ?)

I think it's important to call out toxic behaviour like I described there in yourself & others, though maybe don't use the term fossbro in doing so.

Specifically tackle projects catering towards individual & informal groups. Prefer local-first software over ones centralized on some "cloud". CRDTs are an opportunity!

We should celebrate small, simple, easily-forked projects which don't sacrifice usability, internationalization, or accessibility in the name of maintainability. Or heck fileformat support, that's too much of a strength of ours to give up! I could say quite a few words about this...

I'd like to see more discussed about project governance! As I said I think projects with more than a couple of devs or which are being relied upon should invest in a solid governance structure.

I think the Pinephone & Librem 5 are vital projects for our ongoing success, since many don't need much more computing than a smartphone. I think free culture is vital for fighting DRM, but it can & should also be so much more!

I like that there's groups like opensourcedesign.net and I think there should be more groups focusing on specific skills rather than projects.

Don't be entirely focused on software freedom, see which other movements we could benefit!

3/3 Off the top of my head.

@alcinnz Except for that part about L5 costing something like USD $2k...

@downey Yeah, I do tend to favor the PinePhone myself...

Should check if the software on mine has improved!

Well, you're looking at the US made edition. The China made edition was below 1000 a few weeks ago, but due to supply chain problems and low demand, had to be raised. There are many reasons why it is more expensive than the PP, but the main one is that Purism invested millions in software development (which also helps the PP). Therefore I support them, despite all valid criticism.
