@shawnp0wers Yeah events like that are useful specifically because they point out gaps like that. In my case we have an external tube speaker for the TV that doesn't automatically power back on.
@kyle One of my NAS devices apparently isn't set to turn on after a power outage. But more frustrating is how finicky our Spectrum cable modem is about reconnecting.
(I also don't like cutting the power to NAS devices in general, as they really don't like that, and I really don't like the data loss that is probable in those instances)
@shawnp0wers Yeah home storage is the first thing that got a battery backup. My plan for extended outages is to re-purpose one of the "solar generators" from my van and plug the battery backup into it, then recharge it periodically (if power continues to go out) via a generator.
@kyle @shawnp0wers how do you like the EcoFlow gear? I've seen it advertised on multiple video podcasts and it looks amazing. Almost too good to be true levels of amazing.
@crashbox @shawnp0wers I like them quite a bit. The charging speeds are particularly nice on both the ones I have--the Delta can pull a kW to charge at times which was handy when I had to recharge it at a campground bathroom! I don't know what that does to longevity though.
@kyle @crashbox Again, I could talk about this stuff for DAYZ, but charging at full rate shouldn't negatively effect the batteries. The BMS will limit the current before it will allow battery damage.
LiFePO4 is really tough, and handles deep discharge well too. Usually the batteries will fade from calendar aging long before they suffer from cycling issues. Their one kryptonite is they can't be charged in very cold temps. The BMS will almost always stop charging though, to avoid damage.
@crashbox @kyle Kyle actually has some of them, but everything I’ve read/seen indicates they really are quite good. And the DeltaPros use Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry, which is just amazeballs.
They come at a premium price, but for Kyle’s use case, probably worth the extra money.
