Sargon, you went on a very shallow level into this topic. The first thing to note is that there is a big difference between cuckoldry and so called 'open marriage'. You seem to conflate the two because you don't realize or acknowledge the origins of the term when it comes to human behavior.
If the submissive partner is male than sometimes there are psychological means of emasculation involved mostly in form of feminizing attire and behavior.
@Sargonofakkad100 . The extreme case is when a male is turned into the 'sissy maid' : a facsimile of a female uniformed servant providing the dominant partner with menial labor and giving her all of the control over him.
The ascent of cuckoldry into the mainstream conversation is a signal that there are some female supremacist undertones at play in the today's feminist movements.

It was invented in the 'world of kink' to describe a certain BDSM practice in the realm of Femdom ( female domination ), where the center of the issue is the power imbalance skewed in favor of a female dominant partner being able to engage in free sexual dalliances while the submissive partner is denied this option. ( mostly due to mental conditioning or sometimes even physical means like chastity )
