Triple-check hotel rooms for bedbugs.
(I "only" double-checked when setting my stuff down, and found them after I had gotten into bed. Whoops.)
We are finally (hopefully) done with treating my belongings that were in the room with bedbugs at the end of January.
(Lots of washing, freezing, and/or steaming various things in batches.)

I have always looked around the corner of beds, lifted up the sheets there, lifted the mattress.
I didn't see anything until pulling back covers, laying down, and then seeing streaks to the side, under a pillow. And then bites.
One thing that you should do is put your suitcase & backpack on a suitcase rack or (better yet) in the bathtub/shower while you check.
Lifting up the sheets at the top showed bedbugs and some debris too.
