Time for a new daily driver!

I've been using an older T-series Thinkpad I traded for a Librem 14 as my Bluefin laptop, but I finally decided it's time to upgrade to something modern. The current generation Framework 13 seemed like the perfect fit.

It's too bad it probably won't get to me before I leave for #scale22x, it would be fun to show it off there, but I'm excited regardless!

Whoa #Framework is fast! Laptop has shipped and there is a chance it might arrive the day before I leave for SCALE. Since it should just be a matter of swapping in a NVME drive, I might just be able to get up to speed immediately and present on this on Sunday!

It arrived! I had a few misadventures last night with the Bluefin installer not wanting to set up a boot loader. Apparently it's a common issue that I was able to resolve by installing Fedora Workstation first to fully wipe out any existing partitions, and ensuring all the firmware was updated.

I'll write a follow-up thread with my early impressions later, but so far I'm impressed. If you are at SCALE22x come see me and I'll be happy to tell you in person.

@kyle So the firmware was broken?

@trelane Not broken, it worked fine to install Fedora Workstation. Seems to be some edge case with setting up EFI boot partitions on some installers that are more picky. Theory I saw online, not sure if true.

Not sure exactly why Bluefin hit this issue, it could simply be because I was reusing a disk, and full Fedora install properly wiped out all remnants of the old partitions.

In the interest of getting going, I didn't test whether just installing Fedora first fixed it w/o firmware update.
