Where am I supposed to report new #postmarketos issues, since https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues gives the following message?
"This is an archived project. Repository and other project resources are read-only."
#mobilelinux
@tomasoqvist yeah we moved here: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports
@fossdd I have a Gitlab account since before, but it seems I can't use that account for signing into postmarketos on Gitlab. Is that the way it is supposed to be?
@tomasoqvist ehh i only know that account have to be approves to mitigate spam
@fossdd I created a new account, because it I got wrong e-mail or password using my existing credentials, despite being logged into Gitlab.com. Now waiting for approval. Not very user friendly in my opinion, also requiring pwd of at least 30 chars! I now have one account for Gitlab.com, one for gitlab.gnome.org and one for gitlab.postmarketos.org.
@tomasoqvist
Gitlab.com and PostmarketOS's Gitlab are two different instances. So you need an account on each of those (as you found out). There is work being done on federation so things will be easier in the future. But it is very early.
@fossdd
@tomasoqvist @chfkch @fossdd oauth should have worked, allowing you to sign in using your gitlab.com login. What failed for you exactly?
@craftyguy @chfkch @fossdd I got the message that username or password was incorrect.
@tomasoqvist @chfkch @fossdd weird, I think others have been able to log in that way. IIRC accounts still have to be approved, so maybe that's why it appeared to fail?
@craftyguy I am already logged into Gitlab.com, but the login doesn't work for gitlab.postmarketos.org. However, my newly created account with a 30 char password is acknowledged, but I don't get any confirmation e-mail. Therefore can't proceed...
@craftyguy Last night I received an e-mail from gitlab@postmarketos.org saying "Your GitLab account request has been approved!". I still can't log in with the username (the one I use to log in to Gitlab.com) stated in that e-mail. My newly created account for gitlab.postmarketos.org still doesn't work and I am not receiving any e-mails to finalize the registration. Message I am getting is "Invalid login or password." Really frustrating.
@tomasoqvist @craftyguy from what you're writing it seems like you're trying to log into our instance with your gotlab.com credentials? what happens when you click "sign in with GitLab" on our sign in page? it should redirect you to GitLab.com to login there and confirm the oauth
@cas @craftyguy I actually tried both. After a while, I understood that I couldn't use Gitlab credentials for your PMOS instance, so I instead tried "sign in with Gitlab". I was redirected, as you suggest, but ended up on an Error 402 page. After that, I tried what seems really weird, "sign in with Github" and, lo and behold, it worked. So now I am signed into Gitlab through Github. Makes perfect sence, don't you think?
@tomasoqvist @craftyguy the 402 indeed sounds quite wrong. though it's somewhat difficult to helpfully diagnose this given your tone in this thread. We'll certainly look into it, im glad you managed to sign in eventually.
@cas @craftyguy My apologies if I came across as offputting, I just thought it was ironic that I had to use the very platform you just moved away from to log in🙂. I really appreciate everything you do with #postmarketos and I have been daily driving it for 6 months now. I have two #oneplus6 phones that I alternate between, of which one is on the Edge channel. Despite the glitches I know you are doing your best to iron out, I think this is the best #linuxmobile experience I have had!

@tomasoqvist @craftyguy well, we don't want to be reliant on gitlab.com and their generosity for hosting, but it makes more sense that folks can easily contribute by signing in this way than making them wait for manual account review. we should get these quirks ironed out over time... thanks for the kind words
@craftyguy Finally managed to log in, through Github! 🙃
